Effect analysis of traditional Chinese medicine acupoint stimulation mediated by electronic chip in the treatment of depression

Abstract: As a global high incidence of mental disorders, the treatment of depression has been limited to drugs and psychological intervention for a long time, and there are clinical difficulties such as slow onset, significant side effects and poor patient compliance. Traditional Chinese medicine acupoint stimulation therapy has unique advantages in emotion regulation, but it is difficult to achieve precise treatment and efficacy verification due to the lack of standardized and quantifiable technical carriers. In this study, a new non-invasive nerve regulation scheme was proposed by combining the microelectronic pulse technology with the principle of traditional Chinese medicine iontophoresis through the traditional Chinese medicine acupoint stimulation system mediated by electronic chip. The system controls the specific frequency of electrical signals through the chip to promote the percutaneous penetration of active ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine into specific acupoints, so as to coordinate the regulation of hypothalamus pituitary adrenal axis function and neurotransmitter balance. The study found that the program can significantly shorten the improvement cycle of depression like behavior in animal models. Compared with simple electrical stimulation or external application of traditional Chinese medicine, the expression level of anti-inflammatory factors and the regulation efficiency of synaptic plasticity related proteins were improved, and no local tissue damage or systemic toxicity was observed.

Keywords : electronic chip;acupoint stimulation;depression
